Day 6 | God is Faithful
Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:24; Hebrews 10:23
Sometimes it’s hard to trust people. We’ve had many experiences of people failing to come through on their word. If we’re honest, we’re just as guilty. Many times, we are the ones that have failed to do what we said we would do. But God isn’t like us. God isn’t fickle. God doesn’t make a promise, then get a better offer and back out of his word. His word, like him, is always true. You can take it to the bank.
Christmas should be a reminder of God’s faithfulness to his word. He promised he would send a deliverer for his people, and he did. He sent Jesus. He made good on his word. God’s faithfulness to his word is what gives us hope for today and for the future. Why? Because we can look back to his word and see his track record—it’s perfect. Every promise he makes he keeps. He promises that he will always be with his people, no matter what trouble we face. He promises never to take back his love from those who belong to him. He also promises that Jesus will return to save us from the presence and power of sin and bring us into his presence forever. We can look forward in hope because we can look backward and see that God has always been faithful to his Word and to his people. He won’t let us down. You can trust Him.
Question: Do you find it hard to trust God? How does reflecting on God’s faithfulness help you trust Him?
