Day 26 | He Came To Save Sinners
Reading: 1 Timothy 1:15
“Jesus came to die for sinners.”
That statement is so fundamentally true for Christians that it is easy to agree and keep moving. In 1 Timothy 1:15, Paul chooses to slow down and add “of whom I am the foremost”. By adding that statement, Paul personalizes it. Jesus did come to die for sinners and in doing so he came to die for this specific sinner. Me. Jesus came to die for me because I am the sinner desperately in need of His mercy and grace. I am one that Jesus came to die for.
Have you considered the personal nature of Christmas? Jesus came to save you from your sin. Without him, you would have no hope and you would still be enslaved to sin and destined for eternal damnation. Because of Christmas, you have been rescued from the pit, you are no longer a slave to sin, you have freedom and joy in this life, and eternal hope in Christ!
Tomorrow, a family of millions of brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the world will wake up and celebrate Jesus’ birth. That he came to save sinners that he loved, including me, and including you. Merry Christmas! Joy to the world! The Lord Has Come! Pray that the people of earth would receive their king this Christmas season!
Question: Have you received king Jesus as both your Savior and the Lord of your life? What dark place do you need His light in your life?
