Day 22 | He Came to Give Life
Reading: John 10:10
Do you look for special and unique gifts for those on your Christmas shopping list? Perhaps your Christmas mission is to find something special for that special someone. If so, isn’t it fun to see a friend’s face light up when they open your thoughtful present? Jesus was on a mission. His purpose in life was to give the best gift ever: life—abundant life in the here and now and the life to come.
John the Apostle, in John 10, describes Jesus as the “Good Shepherd” who supplies protection from the enemy and provides life to the fullest. Jesus says, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” If you are in His sheepfold, you experience this incredible provision.
But there is a problem. Verse 16 describes the challenge: “And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice.” We hear a sense of missional urgency in Jesus’ words. There are nations upon nations that still have not heard about the Good Shepherd. Jesus’ plan is clear: bring them into the sheepfold to experience the best gift ever: abundant life found only in Him. They must hear. We must tell them. Here is a challenge for you this Christmas: think about how the God of all nations can use your one life to impact the world.
Question: How can you live to make Jesus known among all nations?
